Lucknow– Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel today inaugurated the Gramshree & Crafteroots Exhibition at the Convention Centre in Chunniganj, Kanpur. The five-day exhibition, running from October 4 to 8, 2025, aims to promote traditional handicrafts, provide artisans with national recognition, and connect the younger generation with India’s rich art and cultural heritage.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Patel emphasized the importance of preserving indigenous art forms. “Handmade crafts are slowly disappearing, and it is our collective responsibility to safeguard them. This exhibition showcases several rare crafts, and purchasing these works directly encourages artisans. These creations are not only products but also part of our heritage and legacy that must be preserved,” she said, urging families to visit with children to inspire them towards appreciating and conserving handicrafts.
On the occasion, the Governor also conferred a D.Litt. degree upon Zahida Amin of Kashmir for her outstanding contribution to the preservation of folk culture.

The exhibition features over 110 traditional crafts from 22 states, including Odisha’s Pattachitra paintings, Rajasthan’s lac bangles and miniature paintings, Uttar Pradesh’s glass artistry, Madhya Pradesh’s bamboo work, and Karnataka’s Channapatna toys. Visitors also witnessed live demonstrations by artisans, offering them a close look at the intricate process behind the creations.
With products priced between ₹50 and ₹2 lakh, the fair offers a wide range to suit all visitors, making it both inclusive and accessible.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Gramshree & Crafteroots founder Anar Patel, Special Officer to the Governor Dr. Sudhir Mahadev Bobde, Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Vinay Pathak, Kanpur Municipal Commissioner Sudhir Kumar, along with several dignitaries and craft enthusiasts.
